CAPTAINS QUARTERS MERCHANDISE: LIGHTS & LANTERNS

lantern
An item that really sets off nautical decor is a ships light or lantern. Made of brass, copper, or steel, old or new, they all radiate the charm of yesteryear as they get that aged patina. A couple of red and green navigation lights glowing in the corner or an anchor lantern hanging from the ceiling can set a maritime mood. The most modern of navy ships today still carry old-fashioned lanterns just in case. They still make them as they did decades ago. Occasionally I stumble across antique lights that were wired with 225 volts for the old ships but are now rewired for today’s 110 households current. Whether you invest in an old antique lamp or save on a recent lamp, you will be just a satisfied.
